The CARRTEL (INRAE-USMB-Pole ECLA) organized, from March 17 to 21 in Évian-les-Bains, an international congress that aimed at bringing together scientists (both academic and non-academic) involved in the use of ‘omics’ tools (environmental DNA analysis) for the study of aquatic environments, their biodiversity, and their ecological functioning. The application of such tools aims to enhance the understanding of global change effects and contribute to the preservation of water resources and biodiversity.
The number of in-person participants at the meeting was 240 scientists coming from 25 countries, along with 40 people who attended the conferences remotely.
Expectations for the operational application of these tools are quite high (e.g., National Biodiversity Strategy 2030). In this contexte, on Friday, March 21, roundtable discussions were held on the theme of 'science and stakeholders' focusing on the application of environmental DNA-based methods to support the management of aquatic environments.
