Intra- and inter-annual variability in temperature: example of temperature variation along the water column of Lake Sainte-Croix, a reservoir in the South of France, part of the RNT waterbodies network.

The National Network for Monitoring the Temperature of Waterbodies (RNT Waterbodies) aims to provide high-frequency, high-quality data to characterize the thermal trajectories of lakes and ponds in the context of climate change. The RNT Waterbodies is coordinated by the ECLA R&D Hub and brings together a wide range of stakeholders involved in the management and scientific understanding of lacustrine ecosystems.

On Friday, December 5, 2025, the ECLA R&D Hub will host an online seminar on high-frequency monitoring of waterbody temperature.

Program highlights:

  • Overview of the objectives of the National Network for Monitoring the Temperature of Waterbodies (RNT Waterbodies),
  • Presentation of the field monitoring protocol,
  • Update on ongoing work regarding data management (storage, integration, access),
  • Discussions among data producers on next steps to enhance the sharing of tools and knowledge.

More details are given on the French version of this posting.
